These Shabads are recited during Hawan(holy
fire) in Bishnoi houses in all social functions on birth,
marriage, death, jagaran etc. and in Bishnoi temples during
religious gatherings melas, amawas etc. PAHAL(sacred water) is
distributed after the Havan.

In some temples Shabads are recited daily and in
others recording of Shabads is played.
The learned followers (Mahatma) of Guru ji
remembered these SHABADS and passed on to further learned
followers and finally 120 Shabads printed in the book called
SHABAD VANI.
This holy book containing GURU VANI(Shabads) is
sort of VEDA for Bishnoi community.
The SHABADS are in in Rajasthani dialect of that
area and period.
Some are easy to understand by Rajasthani
speaking people but others are difficult to understand by
others.
The SHABAD VANI describes the god, religion,
moksha, history, art of living, social values, ethics, love &
peace, harmony with environment (animals, trees), bad
practices(andh vishvas & kuritian) of that period in very simple
words & examples.
Guru ji said, “ shabad mahi shabad samai” means
there are many more words/meaning hidden in my shabads.
Some one rightly said, “Shabad ra arth anant,
jane hai sirjan har” means meanings of shabads are infinite and
the creator only knows the complete meaning.
Many writers have translated these shabads in
Hindi but not in English language.
Instead of going into too deep in spiritualism,
I will translate some easy & most practical Shabads of guruvani
in English for the benefit of all and especially younger
generation who are not much aware about meanings of these
Shabads.
