8.“PANI, INDHANI, DUDH NE LIJO CHHAN”
Use filtered water, milk and cleaned firewood to
make them bacteria/insects free.
This rule has health & hygienic aspect as well
as compassion for the living beings.
We should drink filtered water and milk to avoid
impurities, bacteria and insects going into our body. In old
times, Bishnois used to keep clean white cloth with them to
filter the water before drinking. Nowadays water is supplied in
the houses filtered with different means but it is useful to
filter again before storing in water containers.
When milk is milked from cow, goat or buffalo
chances are there for insects, hair or impurities to fall into.
Therefore milk should be filtered before storing into
containers.
When fire wood or dried cow dung is used for
fire, it should be made free of insects to avoid killing of
innocent lives.
9.“BANI LIJO CHHAN” Speak carefully
(think before speak).
We should think before we speak and our speech should be
filtered off the impurities e.g. ego, lie, enmity, abuse,
insult, criticism, bad intension etc. Our speech should be
polite, true, kind, sweet and with positive intension and it
should not hurt other’s feelings and sentiments. Guru Ji also
said in a shabad, “SUBACHAN BOL SADA SUHLALI” means when we
speak good speech then the prosperity & peace will come
automatically in our life.
Main reason for world’s all confrontation and fighting
has always been bad speaking. With good speaking we can win over
our enemies also. It is said that, speech after coming out from
mouth and arrow after released from bow never comes back.
Therefore we should speak very carefully.
Sometimes due to anger & frustration we speak badly to
our loved ones and friends & colleagues but afterwards we regret
and loose our relationship & friendship. If we have said bad
thing to someone then we should not take any time to say sorry
and apologise to reduce the damage.
In future we may not get chance to say sorry. Saying
sorry does not reflect our weakness but it shows our greatness.
The saying is that, “wounds caused by a sword can be healed but
wounds caused by a bad speech never heal”
Someone rightly said, “VANI EK AMOL HAI, JE KOI JANE
BOL, HIYE TARAJU TOL KAR, TAB MUKH BAHR BOL” means speaking is a
priceless gem if someone knows how to speak. We should
measure/analyse our speech by our heart before coming out from
the mouth.
Therefore before speaking badly to others we should
apply/speak the same to us to realise how we feel it. With good
& sweet speech we can make and win friends, relations and
customers and with bad speech we loose them.
Sometimes we try to bully others, pass buck to others
and make excuses to try to satisfy our ego, to hide our error or
to prove our supremacy but we never get good results out of it.
On the other hand a small wish, a tiny smile, a simple
sorry or thanks can win strangers.
Kabir das ji said, “BANI AISI BOLIYE MAN KA APA KHOY,
AURO KO SHEETAL KARE AP HI SHEETAL HOYE” means we should speak
such speech which makes others cool and then we will become
cool/happy automatically.
