2. 5 days of Segregation during menstrual period
During menstrual period, women should not participate in daily
household works for 5 days.
Due to discharge of blood & other bodily fluids during this
period women’s body becomes weak and also not clean/hygienic.
This rule is to provide rest to the women and keep hygienic
conditions in the house. The modern health experts also advise
the same. During these 5 days women should not be involved in
sexual activities also.
3. Bathing in the morning
This is a primary and very practical, hygiene &
health related rule. All the health experts advise benefit of
bath and cleanliness. Many Hindu and other faiths have given
importance to bath before any prayer or religious ceremony. Guru
Jambheshwar Ji made it compulsory in the morning which is the
best time so that we can do the morning pray in time. Generally
we sleep after tired of doing full day’s work and due to
perspiration and other bodily discharges our body becomes dirty.
When we wake up in the morning, our body & mind
are lazy due to last night’s sleep, bad dreams etc. but after
the bathe our body & mind feels freshness. If we bathe in the
morning then it becomes a regular routine of our daily
activities and the subsequent activities (prayer, breakfast,
going to work etc.) are also on time. Some people take bed tea
and breakfast before bathing but this is not a good habit. If
anyway we have to take bathe everyday then why not in time.
Bathing in the morning after tooth brush & toilet is the correct
time. When our body & mind is fresh after bathe & prayer then we
think positively and our day ahead is happy & fruitful.
In Shabad 104 also Guru Ji gave top preference
to bathing in the morning. He said. “KANCHAN DANU KACHHU NA
MANU, KAPAD DANU KACHHU NA MANU, CHOPAR DANU KACHHU NA MANU, PAT
PATAMBER DANU KACHU NA MANU, PANCH LAKH TURANGAM DNU KACHHU NA
MANU, HASTI DANU KACHHU NA MANU, TRIYA DANU KACHHU NA MANU. MANU
EK SUCHIL SNANU”
It means that I gave preference to purity &
bathe more than other charity/donations e.g. gold, clothes, oil,
throne, silken cloth, 5 lac (half million) horses, elephants,
women etc.
Bishnois have been following this rule very
strictly and this became an identity for us. That is why other
communities also called them SINANI (bathe takers) and consider
very clean & pure. Despite shortage of water in the desert (even
for drinking), Bishnois did not miss to bathe in the morning.
It is said that if a Bishnoi draws a line
(laxman rekha) around a person, no devil (ghost etc.) can dare
to cross that line and harm the person.
Bishnois were considered so pure & truthful that
even courts accepted their witnesses with faith.
It is unfortunate that many young Bishnois now
do not follow this rule of great importance & significance.
If our body will be clean & fresh our mind also
will be sharp and our colleagues will like our clean & charming
face and our efficiency to work will increase.
Some people who do not bathe daily their body
discharges bad odour and their skin get diseases due to dirt,
bacteria and sweating.
After bathe we should wear washed/clean clothes
and pray before taking breakfast.
