19. “RUNKH LILA NAHI GHAVE” Don’t cut/fell green trees.
Human have been cutting trees to satisfy his selfishness. Green trees should not be felled because trees help in ecological balance. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen which is life line for human being and animals. By felling trees we are suffocating ourselves and our coming generations. Due to disturbed eco-balance, climate change, floods, droughts/famine, landslides, storms, tsunamis etc are result of disturbed eco-balance.
Now everyone seems worried about the danger of global warming and desertification but visionary Guru Jambheswar ji knew this five centuries ago that cutting trees will disturb the balance of nature. Therefore he made sure to make this as one of the rules. Guru Ji also said in shabad-7, “KANY KATI BAN RAYO” never cut green trees/forests. Trees are gift from God and our best friends. Trees do not take anything from human but give every thing to human & animals e.g. fruit, leaves, fuel, flowers, herbs etc. Life of many living beings depends upon trees and cutting trees means killing all those living beings which is another crime against nature & God. Guru Ji knew that reason of droughts in desert is shortage of trees; hence he instructed his followers not to cut trees. Bishnois followed this rule and survived in the desert for centuries. In addition to protecting existing trees we should also plant new trees for our survival. If deforestation (cutting of trees) will continue with this speed then global warming will also increase. The result will be that most of the ice at poles will melt down and sea level will rise drastically and many islands and countries will immerse in the water, rivers will overflow and will destroy many cities and agricultural land. There will not be enough oxygen left to breathe. Temperature will rise and we will get more diseases. Our future generations will curse us for not leaving safer environment for them. Bishnois have glorious history for sacrificing their life to protect trees but in present time also we have a moral obligation and an important role to play. We should get involved in all the programs of environment protection. More and more Bishnois should take courses (study) related to forest & environment protection and try for jobs in this field so that forest laws can implemented honestly. We should also try all others means/methods of environment protection. |
